Fabrics by Spectrix

When we were soliciting donations of fabric at Quilt Market, Arnie Fielgelman with Fabric by Spectrix offered us some fabric on the bolts.  The bolts weren’t full, but there was some good yardage.  Spectrix was the other manufacturer that I was to make tops using just their fabric.  Arnie wanted to be sure that I was using the fabric for the charity quilts, and I am.   Below is the first one made with the Spectrix fabric.

I had a lot of fun making this top.  I saw one of the Sewing With Nancy episodes called “Bargello With a Twist”.  Maggie Ball was the guest.  Maggie came up with this idea to do bargello by the block.  This top uses Maggie’s technique and really doesn’t take that long and is much easier that traditional bargello.  The Spectrix fabric gives this a very rich feel.

Wow!!! That’s stunning! I’ve done a bargello quilt, but certainly never by the block. I have to try that.

You really ARE the Queen of Scrap Quilts!!!

These weren’t scraps. They were from the yardage from Spectrix, but now I do have scraps from them to play with.

Yes, I realize they started out as beautiful yardage, but you’ve turned them into a magnificent quilt of many colors.

I’ll look forward to seeing what you do with those wonderful quilts. It’s always a treat to see what you create!

Love that quilt, the colors are so pretty…. Richard just finished a black and white and red squares that he got from you at the Houston show.. We had to change 6 squares and it made it perfect. i was concerned about the black, but it looks great…

Glad you could make that kit perfect. Sometimes we run out of fabric and put something we have on hand to finish the kit. Richard is getting pretty good at quilt making, isn’t he! Carolyn
