Our Syrian Refugee Children Effort

Today we are featuring quilts that will be delivered to IRD (International Relief & Development) for Syrian refugee children in Za’tari Camp in Jordan. Read our post from September 27th for more information. If you would like to help us with this effort, we are collecting completed quilts and they must be shipped by October 20th. Ship to either Tina in the East/North Regional Coordinator or to Noreen who is the Southeast Coordinator. Their addresses can be found on our sidebar (“Where to Send Quilts and Tops”).
Mike and Jean Gilomen of “Mike’s Machine Shop” in Highland, Illinois made 8 great quilts. They used the “jelly roll race” method to make these quilts, using 10″ wide strips, and they used them for class samples in their shop. When they were done they had them bound and they were kind enough to send them to us to send to needy children! They’re really eye-catching, and the children who receive them are going to love them! Thanks, Mike and Jean!
Donna Sciandra made the three colorful quilts in a log cabin style. Many of you know Donna as being one of our prolific piecers, but I had no idea how well she could also quilt. There are two other quilts pieced by Donna and quilted by Cindy Hubbard. Thanks Donna and Cindy!
The two quilts in one picture were made by two members of the Northern Illinois Longarm Guild (NILAG). The one on the left with the Trains, Planes and Automobiles is by Debbie Weber, and the one on the right is by Judith White, who made it for our Fat Quarter Challenge. Thank you so much, ladies! These are both adorable.
And finally my friend, Mary Verrico made the absolutely cute lady bug quilt. I helped out with the quilting on that one. Thanks Mary!
Hover over the pictures to see more details. Thanks everyone. And again, if you would like to help with the Syrian refugee children quilt initiative, we need completed quilts shipped by October 20th.
Cheers, Tina
