September FQ Challenge

September was the final month to turn in a quilt for our 2016-2017 Fat Quarter Challenge.  It was also the final month to randomly pick a $100 cash winner from all the entries during the year.   For September, our random winner is Karisa Harriman from Yucaipa, CA.  Karisa sent in her quilt last month.   She will receive a $25 gift certificate from the Fat Quarter Shop.  Fat Quarter Shop has been a wonderful sponsor of our monthly prizes for the past four years.  I am thrilled to say that they will again sponsor our monthly prize for the 2017-2018 year.

Our grand prize winner for the year is Donna Sciandra from Buffalo, NY.  You may recall her name as one of our most prolific volunteers.  She was also featured in one of our Quilter’s Spotlight articles.   Congratulations Donna on winning the $100 cash prize.

Now for our September fat quarter challenge quilts.  I received 5 this month.   Donna Sciandra sent in another during September.  I also received 3 quilts from Dawn Storm of Houston, TX and a quilt from Rebecca Beckenbach from Sugarland, TX.  Their quilts are featured below.

We can’t thank our volunteers enough for the beautiful quilts that they have sent to us.  For those of you going to the Quilt Festival in Houston later this month, stop by our booth for a fat quarter.  Also, if you still have a FQC quilt, please bring it to Houston and you can drop it off.

We will be doing the contest again this coming year starting November 2017 through September 2018.  It will still have the monthly prize from the Fat Quarter Shop and the annual $100 cash prize.  We may also do some random monthly prizes, so stay tuned.

Cheers, Tina
